For you CEGers with those custom ram air setups have you thought about somehow putting a small intercooler in your piping. This would slow the air down a littlebit but in turn keep the air cooler. And we know what cold air can do. Slowing the air down may help with having to much air rushing in if you are in neutral. just a though. any input?

um, doesn't the throttle body shut when in neutral? sounds like you need some sort of generic blow-bye valve...

With the aircleaner closer to the fender/cooler air source you should get slightly more advantage but I would insulate the outside of the duct/tube that runs through the engine compartment to stop heat soak,as to the throttle body, when your foot is off the gas its fully closed, the only air in is from the ISC valve.Regards TAH

Hey while we are at it here are some pics of my SCA CAI install: http://www.sanctum-net.com/car/intake.html I guess the most notable pic is this one: Honestly I'm not sure how much it helps. I didn't get any OBD-2 IAT readings before the install, but I have some afterward. (Anybody got any stock or KKM readings?). I made the following plots while cruising at 70 - 80 on a 80 degree day: http://www.sanctum-net.com/car/temp/excel1/SCAN7.htm - Brian ------------------ Some Pics, Specs, and Mods Sanctum's Car Pics

Good looking set up for cool air,may want to consider trying the MAF closer to the throttle body.Got any air temps of intake Vs throttle body air?regards TAH

Here is my latest cold air experiment. My external air is piped into a shroud covering about 1/3 of the cone air filter. The theory here was to get some ram air benefits while also reducing the heat of the air drawn by the outside cone surface. ------------------ 95 SE-2.5L / Custom CAI / THF & EGR restricter Resonator removed / Bosch +4s / Fog to DRL mod / Mesh grills / BAT bushings

Also looks good/practical,only time you would get 'hot' engine compartment air is when you are stationary, maybe extend the shroud a bit more and bell it out away from the element? Noce job.TAH

Probably a bit late for this thread, but I just saw it. I went a bit further with it and went right through my fender where the airbox normally connects to the fenderwell. Kept the same shape, and have drains for water and a screen to keep from snortin' birds. Hope this link works http://www.geocities.com/callmecam2/mytour.html

This is going to sound stupid and really hard to rig up without looking dumb. But what about a vacum operated induction system similar to what some Mopars & Chevys ran in the muscle car days? Stomp the gas and a flap/scoop opens up letting in more air when you need it. Let off the gas the flap/scoop closes so you car isn't force-fed air it doesn't need. Maybe you could rig a switch under the accelerator pedal,to close a circuit, that activates a electric motor contolled flap to accomplish the same thing.
Just a thought.
