I had recently rented a 2001 Escort 4dr Auto with the 110 hp engine.....It was a dog. It was slower than my 1996 Escort Auto with the 88HP horsepower Engine (And I didn't think that was possible). The rental had no torque on takeoff. Couldn't make it up the hills around me well either. Maybe it was just that one, but it definitely was slower and noisier than my '96.
