You most certainly have the type that requires two working keys to add another key.
You won't hurt anything by trying to program the new key. It is worth trying just in case I'm wrong. The most that will happen is that you will have to walk away from the car for about 10 minutes if you fail, because for a short while the system will not recognize any key after you try to use an unprogrammed key.
