Long live the pushrod!
There are STRONG indications my next sedan is going to be housing a pushrod V8...
I have enjoyed the Duratec and one of my favorite engines is still the Yamaha DOHC V6 built for the 1st and 2nd Gen SHO, but the tough as nails pushrod engines that GM has been pumping out are my first choice for power, reliability, parts availability, economic value and sound.
Nice find!

LS1!!! It was a good article, and I like the irony they implied if Toyota produced pushrod engines. . .

Well, though I think the article explains why pushrod engines are used, I do not think the article makes a compelling point that says pushrod engines are actually better... merely more compact for displacement and less expensive.
I still think the ZO6 engine is taking antiquated technology and pushing it to the limit.

I don't think it is saying they are better, it is trying to say that they are a viable engine option and shouldn't be considered "antiquated".

Personally, I find HP/L to be the most useless spec in the world. I prefer HP/LB (just the engine) where pushrod V8s like the LS1 are among the best options available.
