OK, here's the story. '00 SVT 39K miles. About 6 months ago I replaced the IAC valve. I was getting alot of throttle hang, and when I tried the TH mod, it made it worse. So I thought I had a slow to respond IAC valve. It didn't seem to make much difference when I replaced the valve. BTW, I replaced the valve after I did the UIM, LIM cleaning.

Then the car sat in storage for 3 months until about a month ago. Took the car out, and after a few miles of driving, when I pushed in the clutch and was almost stopped the engine stalled. Started right back up. I figured it was just from sitting for a long time, or old gas.

Since then I have filled up the tank with fresh gas a few times, but it is still acting up. When coming home from work, it does it pretty consistantly at the same stop light every day, slowing down from highway speed. The light is about 8 miles from work, so the engine is pretty warm. It stalls so fast, that sometimes I don't notice until my steering gets tight. It always starts right back up and it doesn't happen again until the car is started from cold.

When I run the A/C and push in the clutch, the engine runs up to about 1,800 and hangs for about 15 seconds then settles at idle. I don't remember it doing that before.

I still have a Ford ESP on the car with a $50 deductable, but I don't want to take it in because they will have to screw around with it to get it to act up. Lord knows it probably won't do it for them. So I am asking if someone has any idea of where I can go from here.

Hi: Regarding stalls and idle problems. Are you putting premium 92 octane fuel in your car??? The SVT 2.5L is a 10-1 compression engine that not only "Requires" nothing less that 92 octane, but your computer is set for high octane by SVT (See owners manual). I know gas is high right now, but the cost of fuel is cheeper than the cost of car problems - including bad ones brought on by low octane fuel in a SVT.

Also, stay away from Shell and ARCO fuel, both are crap.

Thomas

Thanks for the suggestion, I will check the TPS out.

And yes, I do put 93 in my car always. Why else would it say "Premium Fuel Only" on the gas gauge?

Also, I should mention it has a relatively new fuel filter, and new autolite plugs and wires. Could someone post the part number of their SVT's MAF so I can verify I have the right one on my car. I noticed that before I bought the car, they had replaced the MAF under warranty, so I want to make sure they replaced it with the right one.

Fruit for thought. Speed limits say one thing and people go faster too!!! Just because something says use premium doesn't mean they do!

OK, OK. Let's not get into a debate over this. Yes, I use premium fuel. If someone owns a SVT they should not be skimping on fuel. That's a whole 'nother thread. Thanks for the suggestions.

Well it did it twice on the way home last night. So I guess the theory of it happing once per cycle is wrong. Guess it's getting worse, gotta get this thing fixed.

All these experts and no more suggestions? TPS tested good 4.75v full throttle and .75v closed. No DTC's stored.
