I have a document that I password protected a while back. Unfortunately, I seem to have forgotten the password. Does anyone know a way around it or a way to figure it out?

thanks

I'm pretty sure there is no way around it.

I know it's easy to get around passwords in MS Word, all you have to do is open the document in another program such as wordpad or something like that. You might check to see if you have another program on your computer than can open the file.

Let me know what version of Excel the file was created in and I might be able to help a little more...

Is this a password before you open it ? or is it just a password protecting a sheet or cells in the document once it is open ? Also need to know what version of excel this was done in.

Those are harder to crack but can be done. Most password crackers for those are brute force/Dictionary attacks but I think there is one out there that strips the password from the file. Both are going to take a while to run how fast is your computer ?

I will have to look around and see if there are any free ones out there. I know there are a few that cost about $30 that can run the brute force/dictionary attacks but you might be able to find places to get them cheaper.
