Sometime later I'll be getting a sub, so you think 5 1/4 should be good enough? With 5 1/4 I can put the tweeters in with the woofers...something I can't do with 6 1/2...right? Anyway, I found a set-up SVT Colin had from awhile ago at partsexpress.com, but 2/3 parts aren't sold anymore. Does anyone have any inexpensive (but good) combinations like he did? Would buying everything seperately make it harder for a dumb ass like me to get everything going? I just need to get wire than right? I'm just trying to find some components before I have fun searching for a 4-channel amp to power them...wonder who'll I ask... TIA guys.

I would go with 6.5 instead of 5.25 I have kappa components, 5.25 and am disappointed in them. If you get a bigger midbass then you have to do some modifications, but it is simple to do. Grab a dremmel and it is a snap. Also I am very biased (I swear by my infinity's) however cerwin vega makes a good speaker, very punchy midbass. Midbass is one area of extreme importance that not many really consider.

Here's what just arrived at my door on Tuesday from PE. Vifa 1" Cloth Dome Tweeter Vifa 5" Mid-Bass Driver Soundstream Exact 5.3 Crossover It's quite a bit more than the budget components you're referring to though. For a low budget system, you could try the same crossover (or build your own for a couple of bucks worth of parts) and these: 6.5" Poly Woofer Ultimate Silk Dome Tweeter In any case, you could come up with an infinite amount of combinations of many different drivers.

For that tweeter (it's actually a Vifa D26-NC-05-06) you can get flush or wedge mount cups here. Look under tweeter mounting accessories. Speaker City U.S.A. If you plan on surface mounting the tweet, you won't need them.

So given those components, what should I be looking for in an amp? I need a four channel, as I'm going to get a sub later when I have more money. Would 50x4 at 4ohms be good? The woofer says 50WRMS...but at what? 3.6? 91321.42? The tweeter says 40WRMS at 6ohms if I'm reading it right. On to amps: There is the US acoustics 65x4 for $129.99 http://www.sounddomain.com/sku/USAUSX4065 There is an underrated 50x4 American Bass HP504 for I think like $180 http://www.americanbassusa.com/amp_specs.html As always, let me know if you guys have better recommendations for under $200. TIA.
