2G Sport- crap-> crap-> S100

Question:

Can I wash my car with dishwashing detergent?

Answer:

Your car surface and the dirt that gets on it are a lot different from the food soils and dishes that dishwashing liquids clean effectively. We don't recommend them for cleaning your car.

I'm guessing the person is wanting to wash weekly with Dawn, not trying to prep the car for wax. IIRC the S100 Shine Enhancing Cleanser bottle says it removes the old wax. I'll have to check when I get home.

The depth and wet look are what I want but with silver it just wont happen.

Not quite true, I too have a Silver SVT and with time and effort a deep, "wet" look is achievable. I use Meguiars Show Car Glaze and #26 Carnuba wax to make it all happen.

Just look at this shine, it looks like a reflection from a lake (can't get more wet than water). Oh yeah, the trees in the hood are about 200 yards away:

I recently purchased #20 Polymer Sealant and have been pleased with the results, although it does in fact give you more of a shine than a deep look. My next experiment: #26 first with a coat of #20 for extra shine and protection.

Sorry, but your results are not better than Zaino:

9. Zaino isn't magic, but it.s easy to use, and gives a good shine if used properly.
10. Meguiar's isn't magic either, but also gives a good shine if used properly.

Sorry I had to. I can personally attest to the difference between light and dark colors with Meguiar's carnauba:

Both cars had an amazing shine and brilliance, but the wax made more of a difference on the Pacific Green. I should also mention that the clearcoat on the Sport is much more neglected than the SVT. I had been using Turtle Wax previously (before I joined here) and I couldn't believe the difference that the Meguiar's made. I just bought another can of Meguiar's, otherwise I'd be tempted to try Zaino. I am going to buy their clay bars when my Mother's runs out, though.

You can't really compare the 2 cars because like I said, the mountains are a couple of hudred yards away, whereas the furthest object in your pic is that car a couple of spots down. My original post was trying to make the point that you can get a nice, "wet" look with silver, as your and my images point out. Just takes some dedication. Nice rims BTW

Yea, I know. I was just messing with you.

This post wasn't supposed to be a _____ vs. _____ post. We've had enough of thsoe over the years.

I just wanted to educate CEGers about polymers/synthetics/carnuaba and what other products are out there that come highly recommended from indpendent reviewers and other forums such as Vette, NSX, Porsche, etc.

Hetfield,
Don't bother ordering the Zaino clay bar and paying shipping for it if that's the only thing you are going to get - it looks, feels and works just like the Mother's.

Another excellent synthetic 'wax' that doesn't seem to get any love on these boards, but should definately be on the list of synthetics to try is Liquid Glass. It leaves a very deep, glossy finish and definately lives up to its name. It also passes the "towel slides accross the hood" test. Its about $20 at most big name auto parts stores.

Best of Show from Griots comes in close. A caranuba wax. Many many coats of coarse. Like I stated, 3 years or so worth of upkeep (I want those rims )
