Can't say for sure, but I'd expect NO. It has nothing to do with the engine except to limit the idle air flow - which is metered air anyway.

None that I have been able to detect, but a few have 'noticed' a minimal loss of top end. I think it's only a perception & not a real loss.

None. There was only the few that mensioned a perceived loss of power at the top end, but again I think it is not a real power loss, just a 'feeling'. BMW owners have been using this little trick since the early 80s without any known side effects. And Yes, I own an 86 BMW 325e with the fix.

Must be that jumbly-wumbly thing happening again.
