OMG..we had such a blast...the drive home.....took like 5years as Lori just said. We were WAAAAAAAYYYY tired. Lori was worse off than me becuz she was running on....oh maybe...2 hours of sleep total so she was feeling it. Me-I was gone. I was hurting bad. I took all the adrenaline I had left to keep the car on the road and my eyes open.
They closed off some of 78 on the way home so we had to exit. I got gas...cause...I was not sure exactly how we were going to do all this....I remembered seeing an exit for North 43-285 at exit 16 and when I first saw it...thought I should take it, but then moving on up I was looking for 74 to take us to N43 and that is when the fun began....the close off 78 to an exit we get gas, we try to get info from the useless gas lady, then we hit 78 to go back and then find N43.....and the rest is history but Man, the roads never ended!!!!!!!!!!! UGHHHHHH We got home around 2:15

Hey Eric! You get your parts yet?? I picked up my welder on Sunday & fired it up. I grabbed a buncha stainless steel pipe from a local scrap yard - only 2", but that'll do. Gonna do some cutting this week & some welding on the weekend. I've decided I have no idea what I'm doing, but it'll be fun to play around just to hone my welding skills. My wife is great to let me play this way...
Must be that jumbly-wumbly thing happening again.

Got the exhaust, just waiting on the headers. What do you have planned for your's?

Well, since you got headers, I was gonna make some for my car. I don't have one of them fancy-schmancy intakes like you got - still running stock piping, box, & an STP junk air filter. I must admit, I've occasionally lusted after some of my wifes Rubbermaid containers.
To round things out I'm hoping to put my car on a dyno for a little tweaking, but that's kinda doubtful 'cause I don't know of any dynos around here & I won't travel to Miami for a goofy dyno plot and A/F adjustment.
One last thing. I've got these SVT heads laying around. Tried to sell them before, but since that sale fell through I'm having thoughts about keeping them. The more I think about the work involved in the installation, the more I think I should sell them. What's your opinion on the matter??
So, you got exhaust too, eh. What did you get? Trubendz Magnaflow system maybe? I'm running a new bullet resonator and a stoopid Dynomax Super Turbo muffler. Definately an improvement, but not a Dynomax Ultraflow either. Flowmaster 40 or 50 series Originals were considered because of the nice sound, but they're too restrictive.
Must be that jumbly-wumbly thing happening again.

I just got an SVT exhaust. That'll flow way better than the stock SE exhaust. I can't justify spending another $350+ for the Tru Bendz or even more for something else that'll just net another pony or two over the SVT. I reckon the SVT will give enough to be worth while working with the headers.
You're gonna make your own headers? Awesome Jim. I'd reckon it would be a lot easier on you if you had a set of OEM exhaust manifolds to use as a template. Ya know for flange placement, etc. I had a second pair but I traded them for the new headers.
Fancy smancy intake, huh? Is that what you call a hacked-off MAF with a K&N filter stuck on it?
Whenever I can afford to move my battery to the trunk, I'm going to fabricate some kind of true cold air system; just gotta get the Red Top in the trunk and move the fuse box outta the way.
As for the heads, yeah that's a bit of work to install those. You'll have to reset timing, etc., etc. The cams are a lot hotter, though, so yes you will see a gain. But the biggest difference between the SVT Duratec and our SE Duratecs is how much better the SVT breathes. Swap on an SVT UIM/LIM/TB and a better intake and exhaust and you've practically made up the difference of the heads n such with a pony or two on top to spare.
Next planned on my econo box is the true cold air intake. After that, chip me and I'm out of the performance business. Hopefully I'll have those done before the HSV meet and I'll try to put down a couple pulls. So Phil, put me down for some runs if that's on the agenda.
I know this car won't break into the low 9's on the 1/8th, and that's ok by me. When I bought this car, I wanted to make it faster and better looking and sounding than it was when I picked it up. I think I've done that.

I'm gonna mount the stock manifolds on a jig, cut the pipes from the top of the cat to the lower flanges & weld in some bent pipe. I don't have a mandrel bender, but I do have a $30 hydraulic bender and lots of beach sand (aaahhhh, Florida). That should do nicely for making good bends.
Oh, by the way. While you're at it, mod your Y pipe - if you haven't done it already. A modded Y flows better than the Y that comes with the headers.
