just a quick update. not suer what it means, but I'll keep you all informed..

after leaving the fuses out for over night, when I came home from work I put them back in, and drove to thamesford and back. I got there and back (20km) no problems. no hesitations no horrible idles...

I went to crappy tire to get new wipers, and when I started it up its all back.

BUT, I don't have a cel yet. its still running in my drive way. I think I'll take it for a quick around somewhere to see if it will CEL or not.

That is interesting. Any CEL now? May need to drive it for the CEL to come back.

CEL is indeed back now. hesitation dosn't seem to be as bad now. but I'm not keeping my hopes up.

I jsut got back and it seemed to have cleared up for about a min. when I turned it off it was running fine. I will try in a couple hours to see if its still no good.

does any of this help at all?


oh yah, its backfired a few times aswell.. atleast I've heard loud pops..

Best thing to do is perform some basic checks, such as plugs and wires, then go from there. Some things already mentioned, check for vacuum leaks, check any wiring that was disturbed, and I still say to try another MAF, if one is available. Backfiring could be a sign of too rich a fuel mixture, as unburnt fuel is being ignited in the exhaust. This comes back to the codes, lean conditions in both banks, the ECU thinks it's running lean then richens up the fuel mixture, so much that the backfire occurs.

Can any Maf be interchanged Chris? Like say my 95?

Looks like yes as on car-parts.com they list all 95-97 MAFs together as interchaneable.

Corey's lists a 96 for $60 other yards list em for $40-$50.
Damn wish I knew that when I forked out $270 from FORD!
