probably not. and you'd most likely be introducing some noise into the system as well. you could do it via relay if you really wanted to though.
I agree, the turn on circuit has very little voltage. Use another source and do it right

I'm trying to do away with having a switch. So I need a source wire that is only on when the car or headlights are on.

you won't need a switch if you use a relay.

Why cant you use the power wire to your original gauge lights? or use the the headlight switch? If you have foglamps it should be easy.

I have foglights,,, they're sitting right next to me.  I tapped into a headlight wire originally, but it was the wrong wire,, I have nothing to test it with. Anyways a friend is supposed to help me soon...
