I understand what you're saying about cone area. But, there's more than one way to skin a cat (or move some air).

(1) Have a large surface area with a regular throw/Xmax.

(2) Have a smaller surface area with a long throw/Xmax.

Both have their drawbacks. The first scenario usually requires a large enclosure (with not too many watts), while the second usually requires pleanty of watts (but with a smaller enclosure).

It all depends on your application and what works best for you. The mounting depth on this Bahn sub is just too deep for a comfortable fit in my truck. I've been looking for something with about a 4" or less depth that will work good in a .65ft^3 enclosure. Still looking...
