I'm thinking of picking up this sub on ebay. It's an audiobahn, and the model says AW1000 EU.
I can't seem to find this model anywhere else on the web. From the pic, it looks like the AW1000X but I'm not sure. Was there ever an EU model, and if so, is it any good. The guy selling it lives near me, and said I can pick it up to avoid shipping charges. What do you guys think? Thanks

If you want, I've got a never opened Audiobahn AW1000X sitting in my closet. I haven't even opened the cardboard box that the wooden crate comes in. Plus, I've got one of the flame grills (new) like this one.



The sub and grill is yours if you want for $65 + shipping.

I had planned on using it in my reg-cab Ranger, but it turns out that I'd just lose too many notches of seat travel. Now, I'm trying to figure out some other sub options.

BTW, that AW1000EU sub looks exactly like a AW1000X. I can't remember the difference between them, tho. I think it may have been the impedence of the VC's.

I would definately be interested, however T-red claims stay away becasue of it's design. I must say that I just read about 20 reviews on this speaker, and all were positive. Let me see what the bid on the one on ebay goes to because right now it's 71.00 but I can pick that one up and avoid shipping. The auction ends in 1 hour. Does anyone else have any feedback on this sub? I know you guys on here know whats up when it comes to car audio, and if you can reassure me that this is a good sub, I'd feel better about buying it. I suppose I was pretty vague...The large surround allows for greater cone travel, but at the expense of cone area...you move the cone more, but there's less cone to move...make sense?
To give an example, picture yourself holding a playing card in your hand. Wave it back and forth. pretty easy, huh? now get a piece of posterboard (so we're dealing with roughly the same "cone" material) and wave it around with approximately the same amount of force you used with the card. Which one moved more air?

Kinda abstract, but it does demonstrate my logic.

I am not saying that the sub is particularly bad in general, but if you're looking to move some air, there are many options available in that price range.

No problem. I'm just trying to help a fellow CEG'er. If Vinny doesn't want it, I'll just put it up on eBay and sell it for more.

I understand what you're saying about cone area. But, there's more than one way to skin a cat (or move some air).

(1) Have a large surface area with a regular throw/Xmax.

(2) Have a smaller surface area with a long throw/Xmax.

Both have their drawbacks. The first scenario usually requires a large enclosure (with not too many watts), while the second usually requires pleanty of watts (but with a smaller enclosure).

It all depends on your application and what works best for you. The mounting depth on this Bahn sub is just too deep for a comfortable fit in my truck. I've been looking for something with about a 4" or less depth that will work good in a .65ft^3 enclosure. Still looking...
