I suppose I was pretty vague...The large surround allows for greater cone travel, but at the expense of cone area...you move the cone more, but there's less cone to move...make sense? To give an example, picture yourself holding a playing card in your hand. Wave it back and forth. pretty easy, huh? now get a piece of posterboard (so we're dealing with roughly the same "cone" material) and wave it around with approximately the same amount of force you used with the card. Which one moved more air?
Kinda abstract, but it does demonstrate my logic.
I am not saying that the sub is particularly bad in general, but if you're looking to move some air, there are many options available in that price range.
