I've had my SVT up to 130mph. It pulled hard all the way until 125. It took a while to get to 130 but after that it wouldn't pull any faster. I believe I lost the race too. I don't know what I was racing but it appeared to be some kind of BMW with a wing on it. Not sure.
Oh yeah, stop light to stop light I think the GT has a slight torque advantage. Gotta keep the SVT revved up pretty high to keep on 'em. I've heard that the SVT's are neck & neck with the automatics.

How do you define slight? 169ft-lbs vs 302ft-lbs = 133ft-lbs advantage. That?s more extra torque than a Civic SI has total!
I have raced many GT`s and have been very succesful with them. The 98 and up, I can`t touch, but the pre 98`s lightly modded I have no problem with. But granted, I have had my a$$ handed to me before, so I guess we all win in the long run.
It's possible, but it was most likely stock with a bad driver. The GTs are so easy and so cheap to wake up and make stupidly fast. Put some cash into one and a good driver and an SVT Contour will never keep up.
Oh yeah, don't be stupid like me. Keep the races at the track.
