The average life span on a helmet used daily (biker) is 2 -3 years. The exterior sustains micro fractures and the interior suffers from compaction. Temperature has an effect. Fuel and solvents have an effect. Basicly don't expect a helmet to last forever or even 10 years. Think replacing a helmet is expensive , try replacing a set of P1's
