They're going to suck if people do 5k rpm launches etc. Everyone talks about how much the MTX-75 sucks too yet there are planty of CEG'ers with 100k + miles. I would imagine also, given that most WRX owners are young that a lot of them just have poor (or no) skill when driving a stick.

It's all about how you treat your car.

Agreed! You look around here, and there are few people with MTX-75 problems in cars other than the SVT. And as we all know, this is suppose to be the weak point in our drivetrain!

You think about the majority of problems we hear about, and its mostly clutch issues. Again, I have to blame the driver for those. I've got 185k HARD miles on my tour (most shifts above 5-6k), and no problems with the transmission yet. I believe it to be the original clutch too!

Ok, one problem, but I think it was a fluke. I had the axle seal blow out, and the axle actually fell out of the transmission. My tranny guy really hasn't seen that happen before.

Being prolly the only CEG member with an STi, I am part of NASIOC, I-Club, and ImprezaWRXSTI.com, I have not heard on any problems with the STI transmission, in fact I have heard alot of good things.

My personal impressions of the transmission have been favorable, I have done a number of launches and hard shifts and the tranmissions seems to be able to handle the power quite nicely.

Now the WRX tranny is a different story, if that is what you are referring to then I agree with you

Three of my friends each have one of these cars. One has an evo, one has an sti, and one has a heavily modded wrx. The evo and the sti are amazing. The funny thing about the wrx tranny's is that even though they come stock with 227 horse they only put down 170 at the wheels. That is what the stock SVT does. My buddy with the wrx showed me the article I can probably do a search online and find it agian if need be.
