while we're on the subject of home theater speakers. i would like some help. i ordered a BP1001. they sent me a 1201 by mistake. they then sent me my 1001 without a problem (Blueprint might be a bit slow in response time but they are great and their stuff is the best). anyway so i made a deal and copped the 12" for a song and now have the beginnings of a nice home subwoofer....now my problem. i don't know jack about building a powered subwoofer for home use. i have an Integra DTR 7.2 receiver and Klipsch reference series speakers (RB5II fronts, RC3II cntr and RS3 side surrounds - no rear surrounds or sub). i want to make this subwoofer but where to start? any suggestions?

Get yourself a plate amp and a subwoofer cabinet.

Or, here's a finished subwoofer cabinet.

Yeah they're fantastic. They were supposed to send me a new sub weeks ago, and they never did. Now they won't even reply to my emails. I won't even bother emailing again; I'm officially on the hunt for a new sub.

Letter to Blueprint from me...

First of all, I want to start by saying that I am a big fan of your drivers and I have recommended them to many people and have had 10-15 people actually buy BP drivers. That being said, I can't say that I'm a big fan of the way your business is being handled. I have at least 3 people trying to order your product. They keep getting told the website will be up soon for ordering. Either keep you site updated with current info or give a reasonable date that you can actually expect to have it fixed. I'm not sure if you mind losing business, but if you aren't aware of it, consider this as an unofficial notice that you are. I know 10-15 subs isn't going to make or break your company but I can't justify recommending a product that isn't being supplied, customer service that is not responding, and a non-functioning product website.

There is also a matter of an aquaintence of mine who purchased a defective 1001 but cannot seem to get his replacement sub sent back to him and can't get a response to his e-mails. If nothing else, you have to keep your current customers, it's a simple business fundamental. If you decide you won't be replacing the sub, then tell him, but don't tell him the new sub is on the way and not send it.

You have no idea how frustrating it is being the guy who is recommending these drivers only to find out that the subs cannot be ordered or replaced.

You don't need to answer to me, you need to answer to your current and future customers. Just keep us posted on the site, update outdated messages, or just change to an undefined date and include an email address and phone number.

I agree with the plate amp, but build your own box if you can. I paid a whole $20 to make my subwoofer cabinet. Not pretty, but quick and cheap and painted black. If I ever decideto finsih it, it still won't be nearly as much as those cabinets.

FWIW, I use a BP1201 and that plate amp in a home sub for my father in law. He was impressed, but I think I was more so for the money.

Edit: very nice, Dave. Yep, they kind of make you look like an ass. Hopefully they will make some improvements soon.

Wow, you couldn't have prepared that statement any better, and hopefully it will have a positive effect on the manner in which they run their business. I'll leave it up to them to contact me in the case of my subwoofer, because after having sent several emails that were not responded to, I've past the point of frustration. In the mean time, I think I'll buy a different subwoofer, because quite frankly, I can't take listening to just my mids/highs anymore smile If they do eventually contact me, and send me a new sub, I'll switch out whichever one I buy for now and throw it on ebay. Thank you dave for trying to get this matter cleared up, for not only me, but on behalf of all the people on this site who have been trying to buy their products.

if youve only tried email, and we all know their websight is notoriously screwed up, maybe using a different mediunm to get ahold of them would work out better?
