I'm not a huge fan of tube amps, but they have always intrigued me. Someday I plan on building a high effeciency speaker system with a 5-10w per channel tube amp for music listening purposes.

I realize they aren't as musically accurate but their warm sound gives them a presence...

Anyway, just thought that if there were any tube amp fans out there, this is a stellar deal.

I have some plans for a high effeciency speaker system as well, but they aren't real cheap to build if anyone is interested.

Not worth it at all. This tube amp is not going to give the sound of a good tube amp so its best to stick with a good name brand car amp such as Fosgate, Orion, PheonixGold, PPI, Soundstream...etc.

You'll get way better sound quality. Solid state doesn not have to be sharp or harsh. For example an older Orion HCCA amp (maybe even newer ones...who knows) sound quite warm on the top end.

TorqueMonster...That tubed amp is for home use...but,,,there are already some kits from Canada that come assembled with removable power cord, cage, etc, for 200.00 bucks,,,they are a pair of mono blocks...or you can buy the kit and assemble yourself,,,

Really? thanks, that was insightful. Please explain why this won't give the sound of a "good tube amp" when high end tube amp owners are the people calling this a great deal.

Personally, I'm not a tube fan for listening purposes and I agree that solid state isn't bad, I prefer it. If what you are saying about the HCCA amp is true, I would never consider owning it. I don't want a amp that has any sonic characteristics.

Being sort of an electronics collector, this was interesting, and affordable and if anyone is like me, they may want to give building a tube amp a whirl.
