aftermarket. don't even bother with the ford stuff. a ford HU from a junk yard for the contour will cost you $150. for that much you can get a nice slightly used unit from ebay, the wiring harness, and maybe even some better speakers for the front too.

I've seen factory CD units go for as much as $100.00 on ebay, without the amp. Check the classified ads off the CEG home page. occasionally, factory stuff is posted there. Or contact me in about a week if he still wants factory, I'm replacing mine (with Alpine), and will sell the head unit, amp and 4 factory speakers for a reasonable price.

ibub, I am definitely interested so keep me in mind next week. Good luck with your install. So you agree with everyone else that the factory amp is required. That's fine. Nothing wrong with a little bit of a challenge. If you have a digital camera maybe you can take a couple snapshots while you are ripping everything out?

i don't want to jinx what deal you may have worked out with ibub, but you really don't want the factory unit. with or without the factory "premium" amp. you are definitely better off with aftermarket stuff. better and cheaper.
