Hey!
I have a 98 Mystique LS and I loves it!
That price sounds really good to me.
Are these people sure its a Zetec engine?I'm not trying to insult them or anything but there are some people (more than you might think) who can't tell a 4 cyl from a 6 cyl (and one such person works at the Ford dealer in my town ) All the LSs I have seen have had the 6 cyl Duratec. I'm in the states though so it might be different.
As for trouble spots, if it was a Duratec you'd need to change the waterpump. I don't think the Zetecs have as high of a failure rate though.
As for the lovely CD4E transmission.....I am at 80k and have not had trouble. If well maintained, they are usually OK. Never, ever flush out a high mileage CD4E though.....bad things can happen. Draining and filling the ATX fluid is much better. What I do is this (somebody please correct me if I'm being idiotic) and yes I am a little obsessed: At one oil change I drain and fill the trannie. Because that doesn't remove all the fluid I drain and fill the trannie again at the next oil change. Then after 5 or 6 more oil changes (15-18,000 miles) I repeat the process.
Again, my words are not to be taken as gospel. That's just what works for me. Two consecutive oil changes with trannie drain/fills and then 5-6 oil changes without them.....repeat!
There is a forum on here just for transaxles and theres a lot of good information about the CD4E there.
Good luck my friend. Let us know what you decide.
