Hey guys there is a new cd changer on the market that can read mp3s. I am not sure if it ahs been posted yet (I did do a quick search). This one os from Sony, and it is compatible with almost all the higher end Sony head units for the past few years. You can also get an RF modulator so you can turn the chamger into a radio station, and tune it in. The best part is that you can get it for $250 retail or $190 on the web - such a deal!

i've had my bad experienes from sony. I thought i got a deal with a cheap mobile ES. Instead, i got player that skips and scratches my CDs, worse than I did when i had diaper rash as a kid IMHO

I have the CDX-C760. I think it might be scratching my cds a little, but I love this deck and will not be parting with it any time soon. What model was that deck? Was it the new XPlod design or the older true ES Models that were all black?

Has anyone heard of changers scratching cds like their HUs? (Sorry if you meant that you had an ES Changer)

I just think this thing is awesom, and I have been looking everywhere for one. I thought it would be around 600 - 800 when it came out too, so such a deal IMHO.

Anyone check out that website at SmilePhotoVideo.com? It is an AWESOME site! I use crutchfiled for the specs and to look at model numbers and then go to Smile for their prices. Most equipment is about 30 - 40% off. I have used them for a head unit and a bazooka, and my friend ordered some RF amps, with no problems at all, as a matter of fact they were nice on the phone!

That's a very nice deal.

I have a NAK HU - and it got an AUX in.
Anybody know if i can get a set of RCA outs out of this thing and plug it to my HU ? And any ideas about how to control this thing ?

How can a deck scratch a CD? unless its a changer, where the CD has to move with its tray to get in position to be played,,even then I cant see what can scratch it,...the laser mechanism doesnt touch it, and if anything did, it would affect the speed of the CD's rotation,,

Cd players of all kinds have been scratching cds for years. The first discmans were horrible. The optic arm has a tendency to scratch it when going over bumps. When this happenss the speed of the cd is thrown off and the alinment of the laser as well but the esp and the memory reste themselves while the music is being drawn on a buffer. It also gets scratched by the dust tab in the opening of the cd player.

To control this you need a sony hu with custom file. If you do not have that your best bet is to get an rf modulator. This is not a big deal. All that is different is a wired remote that you can glue to your center console to control the changer and to display the song info. To take care of the music the changer puts out a radio frequency that you can listen to on FM radio with any tuner. Here is a pic and here is the spec sheet for the fm unit. http://www.crutchfield.com/cgi-bin/S-6fa...fo&i=158CDX565M laugh

Alpine also has an MP3 reading CD changer on the market, and Alpine is better than Sony because I am programmed to say so :p So there laugh

I noticed that the market is starting to see a few of these. As far as I can all of the mp3 changers are picky about the bus type that the control operates with. So looks like no Rca - control jobs here.

Hasnt anyone looked at SmilePhotoVideo.com?????????????? the prices are awesome! About the same as ebay, but it is from a store, and they are not sleazy at all.

I think Sony's are better becase I have been programmed that way so there!
