Ok this has been bothering me for quite sometime. Just for background..my parents have my 99 SE paid off. And are paying my insurance.
But my questions is how much do yall pay for insurance on an SVT?
The only reason i ask is because my parents wont get me one because the insurance is too high. And i understand that i'm 16 but....still. it shouldnt be TOO much...should it? maybe that it has a V6.
thanks for your answers in advance.

For my 6-month policy, I pay about $400 for the Sport and about $350 for the SVT. Keep in mind the Sport is listed as a commuter vehicle while the SVT is a leisure vehicle. That, and I'm 27.

There's absolutely no way of comparing your insurance rates to anyone else's; there's just way too many variables -- Zip Code, Daily Commute, Driving Record, Age, Company, and many others all conspire to create HUGE differences in rates even among seemingly similar drivers and cars.
If you really wanna know, call your company and ask. It'll take like 3 minutes and you'll know exactly what they'll charge you if you replace your SE with an SVT.

Nope. Even if we took 100 16 year olds from this Forum, all driving SVTs, all using Comprehensive Coverage, I bet you'd get a spread of anywhere from $750/year to $3000/year. All depending on where they live, what their record has been, how long they've had their licenses, how many miles a day they drive, etc.
Like I said, give your company a call and ask. You're not bothering them or anything, they get thousands of calls a day from people looking to buy new cars and wanting to know what their insurance will be.

I'm 17 , no points,no tickets, no accidents, nothing. Daily commute is 4 miles to school.
I owe $2800 yet on my car so I have to have full coverage. For six months it is $881, so $1762 yearly. It is going up for all drivers in Michigan $27 July 1 because MCCA is going up, also it will be going up because my stereo system will have its own policy May 10, so $25 more.
So yeah man insurance isnt cheap, those crooks know people have to pay what they demand so they jack up the prices.
By the way your 17, my insurance is lower by $140 yearly because I have the good student discount, above 3.0 all year. Also I signed a form saying I promised to wear my seal belt that dropped it, forgot how much.
Also it has a Zetec so that does affect how much it cost, they figure with you V6 = more power, = going faster = more accidents. Secondly what color is your car, that I've heard does affect your cost, red most likely to get tickets.
Some things to think about.

Heh... My friends have found out the hard way that my transmission suddenly slips out of gear and won't go back in unless all the seatbelts are buckled I wonder if my insurance has anything like that? I do know that I'm getting ABS discount on my Sport although I can't seem to find the ABS system anywhere on the car
