Secondly what color is your car, that I've heard does affect your cost, red most likely to get tickets.

I've never had an insurance company ask me what color car I had.

Also, why does it matter? Why would they care how many tickets you get? They don't have to pay them.

They'll raise your rates after you get a ticket, because that's proof to them that you drive recklessly and that they do have to pay for, but not before you get one.

For an even better idea of what you'll pay, go to Ebay and get the VIN from one of the listed SVT's. Call your insurance co and give them the number and ask for a quote. Most insurance companies can give you a better quote if you have a VIN number, otherwise it's just a guess.

Learn something new everyday.

That explains why I had a slightly lower rate after I got my 6 than I was quoted. Not much lower, but a little.

When I brought my car to get it insured I had to go to the insurance office and they had to inspect my car. So I'm guessing they found out the color then, yes though I seen a TV show about car insurance once and it did mention red cars are more money to inscure.

They do care if you have tickets, people that speed, run reds, and stuff are way more likely to get into an accident that those that do 35 in a 35 and those that stop on reds.

Where did I say they will rasie your rate before you get a ticket, I know they do afterwards not before.

You said that having a red car would "affect your cost" -- absolutely untrue.

I've never had any insurance company ask my car color, or even 'inspect' my car. I've never even seen or spoken to an insurance agent in my life unless you count the service reps on the phone.

An insurance company isn't going to change your rates based on what color car you drive because you might get more tickets with it. You can get 10-thousand speeding tickets and they wouldn't care -- at least not until your next renewal date, then they'd hit you hard. Not because your car is red, but because you got tickets.

But my questions is how much do yall pay for insurance on an SVT?

The only reason i ask is because my parents wont get me one because the insurance is too high. And i understand that i'm 16 but....still. it shouldnt be TOO much...should it? maybe that it has a V6.

thanks for your answers in advance.

LOL - my SVT was a dollar a month more for each additional SVT Horsepower -
IE 30ish each month over an SE V6

The best thing I ever did was start small. I had a 1st gen Intrgra, 1.6l. If I had my SVT then, I would be dead. you're parents are trying to do you a favor. Just play it cool with what ever you had. Learn how to take care of a car, and how to drive, and play!

aww, poor baby $1762/annum. You're 17, expect it.

Am 40, no violations, accidents etc. Usually work from home but on the odd occasion I have to go into the office (211km one way). My insurance? $1600/year plus tax.

No lein on the vehicle either. My penalty is 1. single, 2. lengthy drive to office even if it is rare 3. V6 4. 9/11 crap excuse. Oh and by the way, I don't carry collision on the Tour. Why bother, if I crash it, expect to total it (only worth $3500 anyway CAD$). Had an '88 5.0L mustang and my insurance then was $289/year, the '93 Exploader was about $800 (high theft vehicle then)..

You can shop around, no harm in that and you may just find a better rate.

I'm 17 , no points,no tickets, no accidents, nothing. Daily commute is 4 miles to school.

I owe $2800 yet on my car so I have to have full coverage. For six months it is $881, so $1762 yearly. It is going up for all drivers in Michigan $27 July 1 because MCCA is going up, also it will be going up because my stereo system will have its own policy May 10, so $25 more.
