VR4 tranny's are not all that reliable. I ahve a freind in the VR4 club here in San Jose CA and i hear stories of guys blowing there tranny's a lot.
They make great power, but there drive train isn;t all that reliable. And form what i was told by my frineds with VR4's, theres no fix to it either.

I have a 96 Mystique with 2.5 V6 and ATX. 60mph equates to about 2400 rpm for me

Most likly because you a 3 speed tranny with an over drive...different gearing.

Yeah, ford's older smaller cars are nutorious for having high RPM's when on the Highway. I wish I had a Tach....
