Damn Jason that sucks! If you want call me and I'll try to come out and help you depending on my (weird) work schedule. I wish you had the means to start it now - I've got the whole week off!!

Time is something I won't have until after May 3 at the earliest. Even then, it's not unlimited. I can drop the pan myself (and hope to before 5/3), but if the motor has to come out I'm going to need to call a local CEGer "all hands on deck" for my place, burgers and beer included. Stay tuned.

Oh, and an hour ago I had a good friend tell me that he was owed a favor from a machinist and he was willing to call it in for me if I need it. That'll help.

You can run the 3M4Z oil pan or the 5L8E oil pan.

Both pans use the latest upgraded and revised design. The only difference is the 5L8E has an integral gasket. (Rubber fitted in a grooved lip)

Both pans are sold as an entire kit. Pan, gasket & all hardware.

3M4Z is ~$75 shipped.

5L8E is ???

All this information and more is available on my website...

Demon,

Would you feel comfortable running auto-x and HPDE with the oil pan you mention on your web page? And, did I read correctly that the new pan holds 6 qts. of oil when full? Would you run a new pan and then add 1/2 to 1 qt. on top of that (6 1/2 to 7 qts. total)? How close does this setup get to being as good as an Accusump setup (as far as piece of mind goes)?

Hate to sound too old-maidish (scared little [censored]!) about this, but once I finally start driving the hell outta this thing I want to do it with as much piece of mind as I can. If that means waiting until I put an Accusump in, then so be it but I'm thinking that will place me in a big $$$ auto-x class.

Randy

P.S.- A big two thumbs up on your web page and your progress with your car!!

I think killing cones will not kill the engine because the right hand cornering is not sustained for a long time.

Now some road tracks or cloverleafs are another story.

Seems most occurrences happen from taking cloverleafs at high rpm levels.
This is made worse by that fact that running the engine just a few OUNCES low on oil will cause a tremendous increase in the chance for this to happen. (I.E. religiously monitor your oil level)

I would still recommend an accusump for any serious autocrosser or road racer. That's the only way an engine with the 2.5L heads is not going to risk it IMO.

So by 3M4Z are you referring to part number: 3M4Z6675BA?
Also I couldn't find a complete part number for the 5L8E pan...

Yes they represent the key part of the part number.
