"I was taking a hard right-hand turn, I felt a sudden power loss, the oil light flicked on, and the engine knocked under throttle and at idle."
Yep, last time it was a slow painful death; this time it was a textbook Duratec blamo! I was only 2 miles from home, so I limped it back. Oil light flickered on and off when the motor dropped to idle and it had a little trouble idling at times.
OK, so what's the plan here? I obviously have to check and replace all of the lower bearings, at which time I upgrade to the oil pan Demon preaches about. What other parts are now suspect and should be inspected? What (if any) parts are going to have to be machined, assuming I don't replace anything that doesn't absolutely need to be replaced? The block is January 2001 date of manufacture, fresh from Ford via Huntingdon Beach.
Keep in mind this is all going to be in the driveway - my car is going to be covered in tarp for a while once I start. And it's going to take time because I don't have a lot of that either, at least until next month. Nor do I have the money for a project like this.
