I think i'm gonna try a 3 farad cap. I think its the fact that my amp is 1000 watts rms at 1 ohm. we'll see what happens after that. oh yea, that optima battery i got died while driving. I put my old battery in, started right up. So I take the optima back to autozone, they test it, and it turns out its a bad battery. Guy said its the first one he's seen. Didn't get another one tho. stayin stock right now.

What amp do you have? Are you running it at 1 Ohm? You do know that you are probably never actually getting a full 1000 watts when you are playing music. Different notes and frequences (sp?) require different amounts of power. At least thats how I understand it, although there are much more educated people on here. Rule of thumb is 1 farad for every 1000 watts. IMO 3 farads is overkill.
Case in point- I have a mono amp rated at 300 watts @ 4 Ohms. I have a fuse in the fuse block rated 10 amps lower than I should and have never blown it, and I play my music pretty loud. I just never use the full power of the amp. My sub would blow or sound like crap before then.

well like I have stated earlier upgrading stock wiring (I think it is 8 gauge) to 4 or 0 gauge will do wonders. I have a soundstream that puts out 900 watts RMS @ 4 ohm and a Crunch amp that is 400 watts rms @ 4 ohm. For our vehicles you will never have to upgrade the alternator, and stock batteries should be fine as well. I say before trying anything else to redo the wiring, cause I am almost positive it will take care of it.

Ditch the Cap. All a cap is a added current draw to your already stressed electrical system.See if that helps.

Ummm...no. A cap can only help. Caps smooth out the current draw.
The majority of all dimming problems are due to bad connections and wire that is too small.
A car battery can supply an insane amount of current for short bursts. With an Optima, 4AWG wire, and good connections, you should have no dimming problems.
