My lights dim very badly when my bass hits. I'm running a 1000 watt amp with a one farad cap, aftermarket positive terminal clamp, and an upgraded ground from the ground post on the battery to the chassis. Everything in the trunk is grounded fine. My headlights almost flash like strobes and my indiglo's flash too. The lights on my amp (volatage meter) also flashes. I was thinking about getting a 3 farad cap, but anyone else have another suggestion?

I'm running an 1800 watt Fosgate amp with only a 1 farad cap and have minimal dim, so i would check other things before upgrading your cap.

Would a new battery solve my problem? If so I'll buy one tomarrow. I've had problems with dimming lights ever since I installed my alpine deck...which is wired directly to my battery. Whenever the bass hit on my door speakers the lights would dim so you can only imagine what its like now. I got a price on an optimum redtop battery....$159. Should I invest in one?

It really could be, thats how it was for me when I still had problems with my positive battery cable coming off while driving. I would test the battery at autozone before replacing.

I have a diehard interstate battery and run a small amp. No dimming of headlights, though map lights dim if I have them on. You may not need to spend the money on an optima, but it may be worth it. I think just a good normal battery with the stuff you already have could be good enough. I love my diehard, the name is very true. I've left my lights on twice and got a jump start and still have no problems. Left them on once for over 2 hours and the car still started up. And I listen to music for 30 minutes with car off and have no problems starting it.

A regular battery is just as good, unless you want to mount it sideways or upside down

Get a Interstate or other battery and spend the rest of the $159 on something else.
