Over the last few months my CSVT has developed a sticky gas pedal. After driving for a little bit, it frees up. But, it is very sticky if the car has sat for a few days. Does anyone else have this problem and how have you fixed it? Thanks.

Cleaning the throttle body will probably help. Just buy a can of spray throttle body cleaner (one that is safe for teflon), remove the air intake up to the tb, spray the cleaner into the tb with the engine running - stop when the engine bogs down, repeat until clean.

You can also adjust the tb plate, but I wouldn't try this until you've tried cleaning it first.

I've got that same problem too! It more so happens when it is a little colder out (like under 50 degrees) BUt, yeah, it sticks enoguh to where you've got a give it some "oooomf* to move the sucker, and then you end up taking off like a newbie at a stick, or revving the the thing to 3000. Help also!

I believe it is something with the linkage under the hood. Someone confirm and explain How-to!?

You can do this with the engine running but you'll probably get better results soaking a rag witb TB cleaner and wiping the plate and the area in the housing around the plate. Spraying cleaner with the engine running will, however, clean further down in the intake but that is not what is causing the sticky pedal.

I just did this job last week, it'll take you an hour with only a screwdriver and small metric sockets/wrenches.

Yeah, I probably should have mentioned I wipe down the TB as a final step.

not as a final step... as THE procedure.

search on this. i have to clean out my throttle body every 6 months. where the butterfly plate hits the TB it sticks. it get built up with gooey oil residue. yes, yes, i've replaced the charcole canister and checked the gas return lines...

this is worse in some cars than others. take off the TB intake and you'll see what i mean. this is easy... 15 minute job after you get used to taking the that portion of the intake on and off...

good luck!

After rebuilding and cleaning my throttle body I still had the same problem. Adjusting the screw that stops the plate from closing completely helps too. If you adjust it just a TINY bit so the plate is a little more open (rpms dont rise much) to the point where it doesnt stick, you should have no problem.

Otherwise just learn the trick I used whenever I had a girl in the car. Tap the pedal quick enough and hard enough so that it loosens, yet the engine doesnt have enough time to respond. I have an ATX so its probably easier for me anyways.

What exactly is a "charcole-canister"?
