Had a '94 LX for 6 years. I put 98K on it and sold it to my brother. Original battery, original brakes (with life left in them!), and extremely well maintained. Problems: airbag sensor went out - warranty; speedo cable stuck - replaced.
Awesome car for what it is. Slow, great milage, reliable. Would I ever put a duratec in there? Hell no.
I wish I had a GT, though...they had a better aftermarket!

Only problem? 88 horsepower isn't that fun to say.. 200 is a much nicer number.

Sell the duratec motor and buy the cosworth setup from germany or somewhere else in Europe... 2.0 16v DOHC Turbo and you could get even crazier and buy the all wheel drive set up off of one...May not be as cost effective (understatement of the year!) but will thrash just about any one of our csvts...just a thought....

plus i don't believe that any of the parts off the euro escort will bolt up to the us escort. i think they are completely different cars, with only the name being the same.

Very untrue. The Cossie turbo header will fit the early Escort GT's, the front bumpers will bolt up (though they leave a small gap), and some of the suspension parts do fit. The large rear wing doesn't fit perfectly, but they can be modded to fit as well.
It kinda sucks that most scort enthusiasts are young kids with not much money to spend on the exotic parts. There are the blessed few, however, that do know the name of the game and have the money to play it right. That's usually how it is with the "throw away" economy cars.

I had a 94 LX ... what a POS! Seems everything needed attention. For fun I dynoed it with the Cougar guys one day at a gathering
Mods: Cheap POS CAI off eBay.
I looked heavily into mods and found that the front sub-frame and firewall changed VERY little between 94-00. I personally would turbo a highly modded ZETEC found in the ZX2.
