Yes! A Contour would be nicer!
Why would you want a scort when you can have a contour?

my mom has a scort, it sucks!
Well engine is reliable
but comparing my Contour vs. her 94 scort, my contour is way nicer! Get a contour with a bad engine, take that duratec, and put it in that contour!

I used to have a little 94 LX, it was about as bread and butter as you could get.. but I liked it, it was a good solid reliable car.

I had a customer working on just that setup. Unfortunately the duratec is a little too long to fit between the fenders. I know of another one doing a tube frame front end so that one should fit.

Because putting late-model, more powerful engines in earlier, smaller, lighter chassis is the classic hot-rodder mantra.

Why put a 3.0 in a Contour? A Jag X-type is a much nicer car.

I bought a '93 Escort GT while my CSVT was down for a year. Oddly enough I regret selling it to fix the CSVT. I should have kept it and sold the CSVT after all repairs were done. Reliable as anything I've ever owned. Winter or summer it started like a champ. The A/C didn't work, and anything over 75mph was unsafe, but I never had a problem with it. $119/mo. for insurance is way better than the $266/mo. I pay now. (I'm 20 with a ticket and stuck with [censored] AAA)

I used to have a 91 Merc Tracer with the 1.9 SPI engine. Engine was very solid, always started up, always strong. The tranny had issues at around 120K mi. But all in all, if it is well taken care of it should be solid even with higher miles.

Babysho, have you even driven it that you're talking about engine swaps and such? If its an mtx with teh GT engine it should be fairly peppy, should make a very nice first car.
