Well then you're just full of information aren't you.

Fontour sounds hot too, so original.

Ranger was also a equipment package on the F-series until 1983 when the small pick up version was introduced.

Yeah, I'm full of it, I'll admit that.

You understand the Falcon is made currently, as in right now, as in it is a different car than the Futura, in Australia. You understand how stupid ford would look naming a car that is completely different the same thing as something they already have in another country, something that has a reputation as a freakin sweeet car.
How's that shoe taste? LMAO.

It's not built on the Mazda6 platform currently, as the 'Futura' was supposed to be, but maybe by '06 it will be.

FWD medium sized engine Vs. RWD big sized engine,,, yeah it fits the profile.

Ford has had different cars in different countries at the same time with the same name for many years. One example is the Escort. The U.S. car was/is quite different from the Escort seen in the U.K.. Mercury Capri is another example just to name two. Shoe's back in your mouth, froggy.

I've lived in Oz, so I good damn well what a Falcon is.

And how do you know that the Falcon is a "different car than the Futura"? No one knows anything about the Futura aside from that it's based on the Mazda6 platform. It could end up being RWD (the platform supports it), we do know that SVT is planning an AWD version. Or it could be an FWD version (because it's cheaper) that looks very similar to the Falcon in Oz.

And you do know that the Falcon and Futura used to be one in the same don't you? Back in the early '60s it was called the "Ford Falcon Futura". It would make perfect sense for them to remain the same car -- Falcon in Oz, Futura (not anymore) in the US.

Or, as the above posted noted, they could end up being two relatively different cars that happen to share the same name. Ford foes that a lot. Look at the new Focus. In Europe it's got a different body, different engines, and built on a totally different platform than the Focus here. They're hardly even the same cars.

Sorry, they can't do that either. Renault brought a car over here in the early to mid 80's called the Fuego. It was a turbocharged RWD smaller car, along the lines of the Merkur XR4Ti I guess you could say.

Theres alot of "foot in mouth" going on, especially about the Escort for instance. I wonder what the "Taurus replacement" is actually going to be called though

Being realistic, you know it's gonna be FWD (atleast the most common version). Don't bring up anything from the 60s, that was 40 years ago, and a lotta names were shared, etc. but doesn't really apply now.
Yeah, they have cars built differently in Europe with same name as here. Like the focus, but you have to realize the focus was the same basic platform in the US and Europe for a long time, and just recently changed in Europe.
Not sure what the Escort is like over there, but even if it's a different car, I bet it's still has a sorta small engine with FWD.
The Falcon and "Futura" are two completely different cars, built completely differently and having the same name on them would be crazy. But for some reason you believe they are very alike. I'd be willing to bet Ford agrees with me and isn't gonna put the Falcon name on the Futura,, but you can dream all you want. I guess you just want to see the Falcon name over here and you could care less about getting the performance of the real Falcon.
