No you are not. The turbo actually makes power under the curve!

My original post, that was mis-quoted btw, stated I beat all S/C times & traps with a meager low compression normally aspirated 3L.

That's overall power vs peak power. Peak means sh~t...

After I reread the post I figured that you would reply to the "order" statement with a "DIY" remark.....

Welding aluminum is somewhat a pain in the arse! It takes quit a bit of practice.

Good luck on the "setup"!

Just so people know... the NECO member who recently blew the jackshaft, said the new one from vortech uses a CV style joint instead. This should be able to withstand the vibrations and alignment issues.... and hopefully lead to no more failures......

oh and Demon, i looked at your math and some of your logic on prices.... if you are going to add 1350 to the price of the vortech kit for the intercooler, you better add the HP that goes with it, to make it match or surpass the hp from the SF kit... same goes with adding prices for headers.... you need to add the hp there also.... not trying to bash your logic, just wanted to point it out....

and as of now, the best HP duratec on the boards uses a vortech blower.... something to think about.....

Good points though Puck.

Never said either would not give a performance boost.

However for the intercooler, reliability (i.e. less prone to detonation) is more of a bonus verses ingesting the near 200 degree intake charge without one.

Powerwise nothing is going to match the torque and power under the curve of the turbo's much earlier & less parasitic boost.

As my car has shown, power under the curve beats peak power. No way I make near the peak HP of a S/C Duratec. I am quicker and faster from a stop to 100mph though.

That's overall power vs peak.

Also using Rick's monster as the basis for a typical S/C curve is like saying an M3 is just a typical 3 series.

Hmm, wonder if I should change my screen name to M5 Hunter then? BTW, did I ever tell you my cars name is the Red Mongoose (figured I might be killing off a few cobras with it). It's etched into my rear sill plates if you look closely.

Rick
