Originally posted by telekon: Hi. I just read, "Timing Belt Break: What to Expect for Repairs/Cost?" on the forums. My timing belt just snapped at 125,000 miles. PepBoys wanted $450.00 for the job. That's just for the timing belt! Not the water pump or the pulleys! I said no way and am having a friend do it. I bought the parts at Pepboys since I was alread there... Timing Belt $30, Water Pump $70. Water Pump came with no bolts! Timing Belt came with ZERO pulleys.
Had to order pulleys from dealer for $130 for 2 idler pulleys and 1 tension pulley.
Am I getting ripped off here?
thats to be expected....belts never come with the pulley's or tensoners.
they reconmend you change them (especially with high miles on the original ones) but its not nessicary in some cases.
did the 450 price included the pulley's and tensoners...or was that just he belt and labor?
