Hey all I have posted in the Wheel/tire section but it didnt get much traffic ... so I thought I would make a better post and see if I can get some more results! Heres my delima, I am going to be making a purchase soon and these are some of the options I like. Please vote on which style/finish you like best on my car and what size 17's or 18's. There are two sets of wheels that look almost identical but one is made by Exel and the other is Velox. I am assuming that the Velox wheels are of better quality but they are also a bit more expensive. Please post if you have any experience with any of these brands and where you have bought them from. Below are the wheels please vote and tell me what you think. -Sorry for the huge post! - Rim 1 Excel: Rim 1 Velox: Rim 2 Excel: Rim 2 Velox: Rim 3 Enkei RS5: Rim 4 Tenzo R Mach 10: My car that these will go on...future SVT kit and lowered suspension this summer.

The Excels are a knockoff of the Velox. Not sure of the quality.
I've had the Velox in silver in 18s and no complaints about the quality.
The Excel in black, looks too glossy.
The Velox in gunmetal is a nice wheel. I've seen it in person on a silver SVT.
RS5s seem to be the wheels of choice on CEG. Very clean, smooth and set the car off.
Rim 4: I hate wheels with colors in them along the lip, but to each his own.
Hope this helped.
btw, you can opnly vote for one thing per poll. A funky feature on CEG.

Personal taste, I find it extremely difficult to find a wheel the Contour can handle over 16". Anything over that normally looks like a black Band-Aid on a huge silver wheel, and a car needs to have some sidewall to look good. Therefore, pick a 17" carefully, and I have never seen an 18" look good.
5-spokes are boring. If you're going to put the money into wheels, get something with a little dash.
That said, I would go with either of the black center rims (they look pretty much the same to me). They should help maintain the critical black/silver ratio for good looks. The all black (red bead) wheels look ricey to me.

I say get the black wheels in 18's and instead of having a polished lip get the lip painted T-Red to match your car. T-Red tour slammed on black wheels with a T-Red lip would look . Aaron

I've got plenty of sidewall with my 17"s 215/45,,, less sidewall the better=better handling. And I've seen 18"s with 215/45, I've seen them with more tire as well. Just when putting more tire on a 18" it'll throw the speedo off more. They only thing that makes me shy away from bigger wheels is that they weigh more and have a larger diameter. This hurts handling and acceleration. Though since I went from a 14" stock wheel, it helped handling going to such a wider tire (from 185 to 215) that has a lot less sidewall. But acceleration suffered greatly.

Then you should learn how to drive.
When I went from a 16 to a 17 (then 17 to 18), handling improved - even with crappy tires on the 17s vs good tires on the 16s. There was less sidewall flex, making me feel more in control.
When I went back to 16s for winter, the car felt sloppy and handled terribley in comparison to the 17s and 18s.

You can check my sig and get an idea of what the Velox VX8 looks like in gunmetal 17" with a 225/45 tire. My car is silver. not red, but maybe it will help your choice.....

svtcarboy was referring to the aesthetics of wheels over 16", not the handling benefits.
