Did you test the alt and battery before you replaced them? They may have not been the problems. Was your car having trouble starting? Is your serp belt in good condition? A slacked belt could be slipping on the alt pulley. Do you have any large electrical loads like neons or big amps?

well i tested the altenator and it tested bad so i replaced it and the battery needed changing anyway, i have been really thinking it was the belt slipping also but i have read it might be the 175 amp fuse but not exactly sure on what it does or anything like that or how to test it. I don't have neons i have a small amp only 200 watts so it shouldn't be the problem. I was going to test the altenator by removing the negative terminal off the battery while running but what i read was mixed opinions about doing this

A Bad battery cell may cause the Battery light to activate. Maybe something to look into.
