Contour Enthusiasts Group Archives Forums Modifications Audio I have a couple of questions about the speakers in my 96 contour.

The rear speakers seem to have a much lower volume level than the fronr, it almost seems like there is a blanket over both of them, and how much trouble is it to move them to the trunk lid?

The volume part of the speakers in the back is because they are set so low, and they are muffled by the seats, and blah blah blah. As for moving the speakers to the rear deck, it shouldn't be that hard. Just put a little work. I haven't done it yet, but i'm sure you'll get reply from people who have.

They all make a point. Besides, you'll be driving pretty much most of the time, so why don't you just work on the front stage. Save you a whole lot of trouble.

I will actually be cutting my rear speakers out altogether, the rear speakers aren't needed in a good setup unless you wactually want the sound coming from behind you... but who does. I would suggest perhaps upgrading to a component set in the front of the car. If you really want to do more work than that, put the components in a set of kickpanels. This would ensure better sound and more people saying "cool" when you show them your stereo

You kind of need rear speakers or the music will kinda sound empty. I find so anyways. I find it sounds better to have something to fill the back.

i thought that rear speakers made a big difference too, but then i played with my crossovers a little bit, and the sub, while not very localized, does a fine job of creating ambiance all around you. you just need to find a good point where the front speakers are putting out some midbass as to not sound tinny, and the sub is tight and punchy while also being hard to locate and spacious sounding

any decent cd player you use in your car will have a feature to turn up your speakers in the back and turn them down in the front or whatever you may want to do. just tinker with your settings until the music flows like greased owlsh*t
