Plus, aftermarket is very cheap and you can do alot more to a 350 than almost any other small block on the market except maybe the Ford 302.
Uhm, if you look at car and drive.. best top 10 trucks.. chevy was on drop dead bottom..
it had worst fit and finish interior, least power, old design, and unreliable.
if you look on consumer complaints you will find alot of people with alot of problems with chevy trucks, I work at a shop and the majority of them I work on are chev's there vortec's suck. plain and simple.
espiecally compared to the newer f150's and ram's even nissan and toyota were better performing trucks then the chev.

What?? My Dad bought a new 99 F-250 super duty 5 yrs ago and he hasnt had one major problem yet and everything is still original. My brother drove it down to Cincinatti from Akron(4 hrs) pulling a a huge trailer and no problems. That's the longest trip taken in that truck. I'm not tryin to bash you or anything. I'm just expressing my opinion.

Yeah Brendan, why wont you get a 97 like everyone else said here. They look better. You can probably get a 4x4 supercab for about 8,000. Welll good luck man.

Personally, I'm a much bigger fan of the earlier design F-150s. '96 was a good year.
My grandmother owns one. I'm not sure of the specs, but it's sweet as hell. Two-tone silver/blue, running boards, solid taneau cover(sp?), and the biggest engine they had for towing. Gorgeous truck. As far as I'm concerned that thing would hold its' own in a truck show to this day 2 re-designs later.
And Chevy being the best trucks? Please. I'm not all brand loyal like many, but I worked at a RV/Trailer Dealer/Shop/Accessory store a couple years back, and almost no one towed the big trailers with Chevy's, and if they did it was only with Dualies. They sucked gas, were uncomfortable as hell, and couldn't pull worth [censored].

having owned both a chevy and 2 ford trucks and having quite a few friends with older chevys, i wouldnt get another chevy. my ford had stellar reliability compared to what they were always putting up with. they chevy we have now can pull (and thats cause it has a 454 with a 4.11 rear end), but it always has annoying stuff wrong with it.
96 was a good year for F150's. the 351 is strong but is known for sucking gas. i can attest to that b.c mine got about 8 miles per gallon, even with an intake and true duals (was lifted 5.5 inches with 33" super swampers though).
maybe shoot for the f250 and get the powerstroke.
