The instructions on the one I used said to wash the car, then spray the Mist-n-Shine (a detailer spray) to lubricate the surface, then mold the clay bar into a pancake shape, and rub using no pressure in a circular motion. I could not believe how much addition dirt came out of my paint after I used the clay bar. It is one of those products that actually do what it claims to do!
