being a goalie, I have had to make some spectacular saves that look real good, but the truth is I have made some normal saves that I was able to make look easy, even though they were hard. To me that is what a good/hot goaltender is all about. Though I do agree that just because one has a multitude of shots, doesn't mean that he is doing great.

Crowd noise on TV was loud.

Agreed, being a hardcore hockey player myself I can say its all about positioning. Every save looks easy when its from 30' and the goalie has all the time in the world to square up to you. The truth of the matter is the wings just never moved the puck enough to catch Vokoun out of position.
The Wings bread and butter is precision passing and possesion. Neither of which I saw any of the last two games. They need more cross ice passes through the zone to catch the goalie out of possition.

what they need is more crisp, cross ice passes out of their own zone. they are just lobbing it up in the air over the fore-checking, not a red wing forte. the wings are cronic first round losers when they should be dominating.

The wings are doing a good job on all the zones except the most important "red zone", like said before they may get 40 SOG, but there are very few quality. Wings always play weak in the first round any year. They control the puck well just aren't getting it done

oh yeah i got one more thing to say, and this could be a whole other thread.....

the officiating in tonights game, especially, was horrible! that game was totally out of hand and just kept getting worse as it went on.....one thing that sticks out in my mind is the totally missed high sticking call were scott walker got kris draper and actually drew blood....no call.....

First off let me just say its GREAT to discuss hockey with soemone in Tennessee who actually is unbiased, thanks Chris That NO CALL was BS, I mean he was bleeding right in front of the ref, horrible! At this point they should just call the game right, it would make for a much better series because as of now, its anyones series. Hats off to the Preds, they've always played the Wings tough, even back to Mike Dunham. Oh and BTW, does this sound familiar...133 saves out of 139 shots on goal Tomas Vokoun, J.S. Geigier (spelling ) or you could just interchange them, Tomas Geigier...J.S. Vokoun! Wheres the good ole' days where we would beat the goalie with the most career wins (Patrick Roy) or "Eddie the Eagle" and even the "Boullin Wall", those guys were a breeze compared to the last (2) goalies we've faced J/K about the previous (3) goalies guys, just being funny!

I believe your talking about Jean Sebastien Giguere, at least Vokoun doesn't have a steel bar hiking up his shoulder pads.

Give me a break. If you took ANYTHING positive out of that game last night you've got your Red Wing blinders on. I've been watching this team for 25 years... last night was uninspired hockey, plain and simple. I don't think I'm in panic mode, but I won't be surprised if it doesn't end well for them. Sure, I'd love to see them advance but they have ZERO momentum right now, and it can be tought to get back in the playoffs. Especially against a team that is playing every period of hockey like it's their last...

And I will agree with what was said about Vokoun... he's been in position seemingly every time. I didn't mean to take anything away from what he's done.
