How do you figure?

Lets say you go 25,000 miles a year. That's way more than average. And lets be conservative and say that you get 20 mpg.

25000 miles/20mpg = 1250gallons * $0.10/gallon = $125/year. That's hardly thousands...



OK, so my math skills suck. Figure the Focus or P5 will get high 20s MPG, so that's still an additional nearly 1/3 more gas that a CSVT will use over a Focus or P5.

Switching gears, I don't mean to scare anyone off a CSVT. I think they are a great bargain, and like any car, treated reasonably well will give a long service life and lots of fun. Heck, look at my car. 142,2xx miles and I still run it to the rev limiter every day and have a blast with it, with minimal repairs over basic maintenance.

The bottom line for me is always get what makes you happy. Life's too short to worry about stuff like this.
