But in reality do alot of the cars current problems come down to maintenance and driving histroy of the previous owners? Compared to just being "poorly" built? Arent these the same as the euro Mondeo, I thought the euro cars had good reliability ratings?
I would have to say yes. I don't think of this car as built poorly by any means. My car has been great. Although its not an SVT, many of the parts are the same, if not similar. And I can promise that I've driven this car as hard as many SVT owners, and its held up well.
As you'll see throughout these boards, preventative maintenance is the key to this car, and it will easily see 200k with good maintenance schedules. My maintenance schedule has dropped off significantly this past year, and this car should still see 200k (only 15k to go!) Now with 4+ years into this car, I'm getting ready for a change. Definately considering an SVT in 4-6 months.
Nothing in automobiles is a guarantee, but with these boards it makes owning this car significantly cheaper. There is plenty of info and HOWTOs for anyone thats slightly mechanically inclined. Additionally, we have Bill Jenkins and Steve Mullins at a Ford dealership in Las Vegas that give us discounts on Ford parts. This board alone has saved me thousands of dollars in repairs. Again, its a choice only you can make, based on your maintenance committments and such.
