is it only the ones with Premium Sound written on the door? I'm looking into swapping out the HU. This stock POS skips more that everyone prancing around in the Sound of Music movie.
The true way to check is to look behind your glovebox for a small metal box with some cooling fins on it. That is the separate amp found only on Premium Sound System-equipped cars.

Yeah, TommySVT, my 98 CSVT didn't say Premium anywhere, but I had the factory amp behind the glovebox. Upgrade headunit, bypass amp, add speakers, enjoy!

Ford's CD player has no internal amp for the Tours so anything with the CD player will have the external amp and therefore have the premium sound setup.
Interesting thing: Leafing through a 1994 Car and Driver issue I came across the original preview drive of the Contour. It had a six speaker stereo. I was never aware that Contours had a tweeter in the front door. Do they? or was the test mule different?
Also, Dave, do 5x7s fit in the doors of the Contour? :p
