Big deal

Best Buy, Circuit City, and Wal Mart are hiring! Most of those new retail jobs went to highly skilled workers out of desparation.

"Construction industry added jobs"

Contractors routinely pick up workers at "Day Labor" sites, for pennies. Lots of "good jobs" added there too!

Speculation and guessing is a wonderful thing, isn't it?

You ought to come up with the "I-got-this-job-out-of-desperation" job index.

Fact of the matter is, the retailers are HIRING. I don't know of too many people that got a job out of desperation. If they did, at least they got one! Like Perry, most people are still looking to find the best-paying job with the best benefits. Any time you have the opportunity to choose, accept, and deny a job, you're still better off than most.

As for the contractors picking up "Day Labor" workers... You are correct in that, but March wasn't the first month contractors were able to hire Day Labor workers. I doubt that Day Labor workers are part of that index anyway, as to be part of the index, you have to be added to company payroll. Most Day Labor workers get cash on the spot. Fact is, the construction jobs were nudged mostly due to expansion and good weather.

Unemployment is at 5.7% guys, it's not the end of the world as some of you make it out to be. You think you got it bad? My half-sister in Czech would be dying to take a retail job just so she can even HAVE one. The unemployment in that particular region is above 15%.
