I would say it is not proper to judge a President simply by looking at whether you are better off now than 3 1/3 years ago.

The President does not control everything that affects your overall well-being.

A better score of judgement is to do what you are doing. Then see what differences are due to actions by the administration and those which were beyond the administrations control.

Then if the items beyond the administration's control need action by the administration after they happened, how did they act upon those items. Some items have nothing to do with the President or any other elected official.

You see the pattern of behavior of the incumbent by the first analysis. Then you see what the other states they would have done, or what their platform is to address the current situation. Then pick the one you feel will lead the country as a whole in the better direction.

If you cannot in good conscience vote for either direction, then select the third party candidate that best states where you want the country to go. I likely will be doing the last, as I have serious problems with the vision of both candidates.

If Bush would stop his extra-curricular moral engineering programs, I would vote for him.
