If that setup were somehow stable, it looks like each sub (assuming 4ohm SVC) would get 600w. You could do that with just ONE amp and non-hazardous wiring.

That would be the exact same thing as wiring each of the two amps to a single sub. Your output is still 600w per sub. You could also do this with a single JBL 1200.1 amp.

It sounds like this shop either hasn't got a clue about impedence/output/wiring or is trying to push another 1200.1 on ya to put some $$$ in their pockets at your expense.

people, people, the output is the same despite the resistance, so listen to those who are saying so. it doesnt change the power, rather the flow, offhand i cant think how to explain resisance fully because its late, but maybe tomorrow ill elaborate.
1200 watts at 2 ohms is still twice as much as 600w at 4 ohms. it simply gives a different type of draw to your amp. you already previously take the ohms into account when figuring your total watts. after that, it doesnt have an effect AGAIN, that would make no sense
