I once saw some wax tinted specially for black vehicles. Makes my brothers black Suburban look great. Other waxes that I've seen are always light color and really make the paint chips on the hood and front area stand out from 50 feet. Since I commute 2 hours daily and hits lots of bugs and rocks I will always have chips. Are there tinted waxes or polishes or good ways to deal with the wax filling in the chips and making them look worse? I search around a bit and of course there are tons of threads on wax and tint but I've not seen this topic approached directly.

I personally haven't seen any tinted wax. But in this thread they speak of a product called "back to black" by mothers. I believe its tinted black. I'm not sure how it would work out on red, but it might give it a tinted look. Thats all the info i got.

Back to Black is for black plastic trim pieces. It works similar to armor all in that it returns moisture to the pieces but lasts longer.
You can still find tinted waxes. I believe they are marketed by Turtle Wax and even come with a small crayon thing to fill in the bigger scratches. I found it at Walmart most recently. They make it in green, red and a couple other colors as well.

If the chips aren't too deep, I'd color sand the area w/ 1500/2000 grit paper (wet, soapy water)...then buff/polish $.02

I second that. I've used Turtle Wax Color Magic on several of my cars and it hid the scratches and chips very well. Cheap to purchase, and most auto parts stores carry it.

I have a bottle of the black colored turtle wax with the colored chip stick. Its decent for filling in chips, which is only what I use it for. I don't really care for the wax.
