I searched...just looking for confirmation. CF hoods come in black with the "weave" or sort of "checkered" (not OEM) look to them, yes? Except for the ones with show quality finish? Reason I ask: My hood (black csvt) needs painting. Looking about like a $400+ job. I'm thinking for about the same $$$ I can go CF, though I can't decide just how I feel about the CF look and don't know if it's worth just the weight savings to spend the money to get it looking OEM. Can anyone (preferably with a black car) post or email pics of their CF hood that really shows the CF (non OEM look)? I'd appreciate it. Randy rgunn1@austin.rr.com

A show quality CF hood has the weave pattern and means it is clear coated. A non-show quality CF hood would look about like unpainted fiberglass (i.e. crappy). If I were you, I'd get the CF hood, the weight difference is minimal, but they're cooler. Everyone so far really likes the look of my hood.

Actually $400 is about on the average to low side of the price rand..remember when you paint a body panel..you have to blend to the panels that surround the original panel. And, at an average cost of $275-$300 per panel for painting..thats a bit low.

I was charged an additional 50 dollars to blend across my hood into the driver's side fender.( they were fixing the passenger side fender) I thought that was cheap then but now I feel even better about the deal.

Maybe sometime in May, I don't have a digi cam or scanner. Tonight was my first real show off night. Went to one of the local ricer hang outs to show it off. Fun stuff. I'll try to get pics soon... though it's nothing special, just imagine a CF hood on a t-red contour that still needs some minor tweaking to have perfect panel gaps.

I have to say it again... that hood looks so freakin good! How long will you be offering that hood for... If it is availble in June, I'll be allover one of those (my hood needs repaining too. My body shop quoted me 390.00 to refinish and repaint. (thats UNblended, too! )

WRONG, you don't have to blend on a black car. Black is black! And to just paint the top of the hood w/o any repair its only $220.32 @ $36. But I would still go with the Carbon Fibre hood.
